Three Mechanisms

Fixed, Rotary & Swing-Out — Which Larder Mechanism Do You Need?

Every pull-out larder does the same basic job — brings the whole cupboard's contents out to you — but the mechanism behind it changes how much clearance you need and how the baskets present themselves.

Fixed Centre-Mount (HSA)

The frame pulls straight out on runners, in-line with the cabinet, and the door pulls out with it. Simplest and most cost-effective mechanism, ideal for cabinets 300–600mm wide, installed heights from 950mm to 2,330mm.

Rotary (HSA Rotary)

Pulls out, then rotates 90° to either side, giving full frontal access to every basket rather than approaching from the side. A built-in safety mechanism locks the runner while rotated so the unit can't be pushed closed mid-turn.

Swing-Out (DUSA®)

Baskets are mounted on both the door and the cabinet frame, and swing out together as the door opens — effectively doubling the accessible storage in the same footprint. The proven classic for 500mm tall cabinets.

Power Move® Electric Larder Motor

For heavily loaded larders, an electric power-assist motor can be retrofitted or specified from new. A light pull or press on the cabinet front triggers the motor, which then opens the unit smoothly — drive control adjusts itself automatically to the load, and a safety stop halts movement if the unit meets any obstruction.

If power fails, the larder still operates as a completely normal manual pull-out, so there's no risk of losing access to your storage. A separate adaptor is available for rotary larder units.

Pull-Out Larder Unit Questions

What homeowners most often ask before specifying a larder unit.

What installed height range do larder units cover?

Fixed centre-mount HSA larder sets are available in six height bands from 950mm up to 2,330mm, in 250mm increments, so they cover everything from a short base larder to a full-height tower unit reaching close to the ceiling. Rotary larder sets cover two taller bands, 1,790–2,040mm and 1,990–2,230mm. We confirm your exact installed height on the planning visit before ordering.

How many baskets come with a larder unit set?

Shorter units (950–1,700mm installed height) come with 4 baskets included; taller units (1,700–2,330mm) come with 5. Additional single baskets can be added afterwards, up to a total of 7, for installed heights of 2,150–2,330mm, if you want extra shelving levels within the same frame.

Can I add glass sides to my larder baskets?

Yes, but only with Premea solid-base baskets, not wire mesh or linear baskets. Glassline insert sets are ordered separately in clear or frosted glass and come with polished chrome fixing clips that clip onto the basket front and rear, no tools required to swap them.

Is the electric Power Move® motor worth it?

For a heavily loaded larder — particularly taller units carrying 20kg or more across five baskets — the electric motor genuinely reduces the effort of opening it and softens both the noise and physical resistance of a large loaded unit. It's optional rather than essential; manual soft-close units perform very well for most households. It's worth considering for anyone with reduced grip strength or a very heavily stocked pantry.

What's the built-in depth requirement for a larder unit?

Fixed HSA larder units need a built-in depth of 470mm, while rotary units need slightly more at 500mm to allow the frame to clear the cabinet as it rotates. Standard 570–600mm deep tall cabinets comfortably accommodate either, but we always confirm against your actual cabinet depth before ordering.
